Cinema Poem 1 - Bliss, 2020

Digital Video, 0:30 sec

It is often taught in filmmaking to show rather than tell. What is often lost in that tenet is the beauty of the immaterial and invisible. These cinema poems are experimentations in redefining what the cinematic can look like and be.

Rather than approaching cinema through the lens of strict and naturalistic narrative, I wanted to approach story via the poetic and intuitive. Using the script page as an art form in itself to add to the experience (rather than act as merely a lesser or base form of the final film), I combine collage with montage to create short film pieces that are more cinematic than a poem yet less story-driven than a movie.
