I really don't know clouds at all, 2022

Live video-collage installation

The title "I really don't know clouds at all" is taken from the Joni Mitchell song "Both Sides Now". I wanted to make connections between the digital Cloud with natural clouds. Like a meteorological data cloud above us, visitors of the artwork lie back and gaze upwards, contemplating the various images and data coming from around the globe and the nature of our place in the ecosystem that is the Earth. To create the piece, I used livestreaming software combined with projection mapping software. In the livestreaming software, I collaged live video streams from Youtube with live in-situ video footage and ported them to be projection mapped. In the projection mapping software, I added algorithmically generated clouds to float by endlessly and programmed the fading in and out of the videos in a sequence. The end result is a endless looping sequence of networked videos that people gaze at from below.
